Since the early days of sending consignments of carrots and cabbage to the British Navy in Singapore, Sumich has become a major Australian exporter of fresh produce.

Today, Sumich’s export markets are well established and wide ranging.

With over 50 years’ experience in the export trade, and with the geographic advantages of its Western Australian-based operations, Sumich now exports to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, U.K., Europe and the Middle East.

The main export items are carrots, celery, cabbage, pumpkin, onion, potatoes and extra virgin olive oil.

In order to provide quality produce to all its export markets, Sumich utilises the latest technology in the transportation of fresh produce, including Controlled Atmosphere (CA) and Modified Atmosphere (MA) technology. The hydro cooling facilities are a key feature in retaining the premium quality of produce for export.

Sumich’s Export Division has the expertise and experience to handle the complex documentation required for export to each market. This is a specialised area, encompassing the processing of documentation to meet a variety of financial, shipping, health and quarantine regulations by individual countries.

At Sumich, experienced staff are responsible for overseeing all aspects of export operations. Their responsibilities include, sourcing produce from Sumich farms and Australian private growers, meeting the various market specifications, packaging and quality of produce. Trading staff are assigned to individual export markets and therefore are able to develop a thorough understanding of each market’s requirements, seasonal variations, and customer needs.
